Barbie provides students with direct instruction in technology on a weekly basis at Central and West Elementary. Mrs. Norton meets with students at Central Elementary for 30 minutes each week and with students at West Elementary for 40 minutes each week.

Weekly technology classes include activities in:
- basic computer skills;
- computer terminology;
- technology history;
- copyright law;
- online safety;
- touch typing; and
- software usage.
Students have the opportunity to work on educational CD ROMs, pre-selected web sites and software programs such as the Microsoft Office suite. All Internet activities at the K-5 level utilize web sites which have been reviewed in advanced for inappropriate content. Technology activities are designed to support learning goals of the regular classroom curriculum, in addition to providing essential technology skills.
A USD 320 Acceptable Use Policy must be signed by both the student and parent/guardian of the student prior to being allowed to participate in technology class. This policy sets forth the guidelines for appropriate use of technology in the school setting.
Miss Parker is a native of Elkhart, Kansas where she taught 4th grade for 5 years and was a Technology Rich Classroom Facilitator for 2 years. Her educational background includes a BS in Business Administration, BS in Elementary Education, MS in Elementary Education and is currently pursuing a MS in Instructional Technology.
