

My name is Joanie Doperalski. I have taught in USD 320 for 37 years, 22 of which have been in the library. I have two Master’s degrees, one from Kansas State University and one from Emporia State University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Emporia State. Professionally, I belong to the following associations: Kansas Association of School Libraries; Delta Kappa Gamma; National Education Association; Kansas National Education Association; the Wamego Teachers Association.

LIBRARY ASSISTANTS
First graders in the new library at Central on the first day of school.
LIBRARY CLASSES
Each class meets weekly for a 40-minute time period. This includes storytime with an activity and library book checkout.
LIBRARY BOOKS
Kindergartners may check out one book. First and second graders may check out two items from the library for a period of 14 days.
Students will be responsible for replacing lost or damaged materials.
CURRICULUM:
Classroom units are integrated into the library lessons each week. Library vocabulary words are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Book care is also reviewed regularly.
